

here are some pictures of the herring fleet out in the water just off our new property. the first one is a herring skiff bringing in herring on the right and letting out net on the left. they are very close to shore. The second photo shows the color that some of the water gets around here at this time. It is very tropical looking! The larger boat out farther takes all the herring off the smaller boat. There are actually about 30 boats out in the water right now. It's really neat to see. wherever there is a spot to pull over and watch, there are several cars doing just that, including me. I took the first 2 pictures today around 5:30 and the last one was taken in the middle of the day. This herring season only lasts about a week, then all is back to normal. margie
