my view

well, seeing as I have no digital camera and it takes me months to develop and print the b&w I've been shooting, much less scan it in to the computer, here is my view:

I've been cooking curry most of the day, two types, one as hot as I can make it and red, the other a mild yellow curry. The kitchen is clean for the first time since I moved in becuase we are having about 50 people over tonight for the thursday night dinner, a four-year running gift dinner my friends and I started when we moved out of the dorms.
The other half of my day I spent upstairs, in my corner at the top of the stairs. I have just enough room for the bed tim made me when I left for school, under which I have apple crates full of studio supplies, and a desk, the surface of which is covered in the illustrations and books I have been working on. I hung several blankets to make my space more cozy and give myself some privacy, and I have a nice big southfacing window that poors sunlight in. I'm about one bolck from the nearly flooding willamette river and the miles of bike path that run along its shore.
Oh yeah, and in typical northwest fashion, it is raining, so don't forget to put taht in your mental picture.

Gabe, your view comes across just fine in text. I'm not sure that b&w film would do justice to the colour of curry. Hope you're staying dry.

Your words paint a perfectly full mental picture in my mind -- full of every sense. I can smell and taste the curry, feel the coziness of your little space at the top of the stairs, see the swollen river rushing by, probably dark and swirling and I can hear the rain as if I were right there with you. Good image-making, Gabe.

I'm happy to see that you posted something Gabe. I remember your space (is it the same house as when we were there?) and I agree with your mom. You painted a very vivid picture. Is Aaron still there and is your kitchen still CLEAN?
Love, grandma
