First Flight
I was lucky enough to be there when the little hummers decided to try their wings for the first time, either that or they had had enough of me poking things at them. Right after I took the picture with the ruler, they flew into the little bush next to the nest and I snapped this picture. Today, they are buzzing around Verna's feeder like they have been flying for years, and acting very bossy too!

Kathy, both of these are so good! I wonder how long they'll stay around the nest. Don't forget to have Verna save the nest!! If she doesn't want it I would.

he/she is soooo cute! It's hard to believe they can leave home at such a young age...quite the contrast to human babies!! do you happen to know if the mother has more than one brood (?) per season?
