Anise Whole Wheat Bread from Tootsie

Here's a good and easy to make bread recipe from Tootsie:

Anise Whole Wheat Bread

2 pkgs dry yeast
2 cups warm water ( 105-115F)
3 cups all purpose flour, divided
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 1/4 tsp salt
3 T butter or Earth Balance or olive oil
3 T honey
1 T anise seeds, sesame seeds and sunflower seeds (The anise seeds are optional)

Combine yeast and warm water in 2 cup liquid measuring cup; let stand 5 min.
Combine yeast mixture, 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, and next 3 ingredients in a large bowl. Beat at low speed until blended; beat at med. speed 2 min. Stir in remaining 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour. Cover and let rise in warm place (85F) for 50 min or until doubled in bulk.

Lightly butter a 2 qt. souffle dish; sprinkle with 2 tsp anise seeds. Set aside. Vigorously stir dough 30 seconds; pour into prepared souffle dish, and sprinkle with remaining anise seeds, sesame & sunflower seeds. Press seeds into dough. Bake at 375F for 55 min. or until lightly browned. Remove from souffle dish and let cool completely on wire rack. Makes 1 loaf.

Thanks for posting this Maureen. Just looking at the pictures makes me want to head for the kitchen and start mixing.

You're welcome, Mom. I was hoping maybe some other family members might start posting recipes here -- that was one of our ideas when we first started the blog. If you do post a recipe, make sure to label it "recipes" at the bottom of the post before you "publish" it. That way, anyone can find all the recipes with one click.

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe I'll do it this weekend.

ou decide to bake an apple crisp while you're typing out the recipe ... take a picture of it -- we can post it with the recipe! (but recipes without photos are always welcome too) xoxo
