ADDING TO THE CALENDAR
This is a question for Maureen...can anyone add items to the calendar you have inserted on our blog? if so, how do we do it?

Hello to Everybody from your friendly neighborhood Admin, Maureen:
I put the calendar in the sidebar as an experiment. We will see if it turns out to be useful. If not, I'll remove it. I sent an "invite" from Google Calendar to Mom (Pat) and each of my siblings. That's all I am inviting for now. If you guys accept the "invitation" and it seems helpful to planning things like our family reunion this June, then I will invite the rest of the family to participate as well.
If you did not get the invitation, or if you trashed it already, email me and I'll send it again.
So, Marybeth, you should have received an invitation from Google Calendar or from me, in your email. If you click the link in that email, it will take you to a page where you can sign in -- using your gmail account -- Mom did it this morning with me on the phone so I know it's working. You have to say "yes" to access whatever calendar it's asking you to access. Then you will see a page where YOU can make your OWN calendar, or you can also access the calendar called : Gettin' Together Events.
Explore around the Google calendar page to familiarize yourself with it. You will see that I have already entered our Reunion in JUNE 29th - July 2nd. Everyone who signs in to google calendar whom I have invited (or whom YOU invite) can see the events on our family calendar. All of those people can ALSO add events, add agenda items, whatever.
It would be great if everybody entered their own (and family) birthdays, and other important events. You can also add your own travel itineraries so the rest of your family can see where you are, what you're up to, etc. I'm going to be adding Tim's and my travel dates for the year, as soon as I can.
I am hoping the calendar becomes a useful planning tool as well as just a fun way to keep us all up on what the rest of the family is doing.

I have done it! I added 2 things to the Calendar, Chris' birthday today, and our trip to Mexico on Saturday. It's pretty easy to use.
That's great, MB. Hopefully others will see your comment and realize it's easy to use (and not just me telling them it's easy) plus ...... now that you have your Mexico trip on the calendar, I don't have to keep trying to remember when you told me you were leaving. ;-D
How do I get to the page where I can post things on the calendar?

I just "invited" you to the calendar. When you get the email, click on the link and follow instructions. It's gonna (unfortunately) say the calendar is "maureen shaughnessy's" but ignore that. It belong to all of us. If you still can't add events to the calendar, email me and I'll see what I can do.
The invite has no yet arrived in my inbox in my email. Should it be there already?
bren, are you still at fasthorse? that's the email address i sent the invite to. Why don't you email me directly instead of leaving comments here, okay? then we can figure it out easier i'm sure. ;-D
