HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

To all our Canadian bloggers, we hope you are having a Happy Canada Day, wherever you are! And to our American bloggers, here's to an early Happy 4th of July Day, wherever you are!

We spent the better part of our day at an open water swim race at Sasamat Lake (about a 45 minute drive from our house, not far from Port Moody, and across Indian Arm from Deep Cove). The water is pretty warm, but it is still advantageous to wear a wet suit. Julian swam the 2km race, and did very well. You can see him at the start in the last picture...he is the swimmer with his face turned to the right, just launching into the water on the left side of the picture.

In 2 weeks, Julian is in another swim race, this time starting very near Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver, and swimming 10km across Burrard Inlet to Kitsilano Beach. Each swimmer has a support boat that goes alongside. We will meet him at the other side, approximately 3 hours after we see him off at the start.

Hi MaryBeth, Julian, Nicholas and Ollie. Looks like the 4 of you had a wonderful Canada Day. We're planning to watch the fireworks from Kathy & Jerry's yard tonight. It'll be right across the harbour. I'll see you next Thursday.

Love, grandma
