Morning visitors

The other morning at about 5:30, these deer were feeding outside my office window when this rainbow suddenly appeared. A few minutes later, two more deer joined them.

At this time of year the does are trying to drive away the yearlings from last year so that they can drop their fawns. The yearlings are confused by this and persist in following the does around until they finally get the message. In a week or so we will quit seeing the does at all as they disperse to their hiding spots for fawning. They seem to like the dense brush along the river bank for this task and we have plenty of that so each year at least one doe has her fawn behind our house.

Hi Peter, I like your story on this posting of that beautiful scene. You sure have to be right there for the rainbow shot, don't you?
