Making the wall
Yesterday and today, cousin Matt came over to help us (including Nicholas and Oliver) build a rock wall in our back yard. We managed to find all the stones we needed right here on our property (good ol' North Vancouver soil!!). We are going to plant some mature cedar hedging there that were salvaged from a construction site, so we will be filling behind the wall with soil. A moment ago we had thunder and lightning, and a heavy rain, but it has since abated.

yes, mom, that's Julian leaning over the wall. he had just cut his hair with the clippers, and it is pretty much as short as it can go without shaving it off!
yes, the little maple and the ferns are looking happy there.
