I found this plant growing on Tatlayoko Ranch a few days ago. It is the yellow pond lily and has a very cool root. The water level in this little pond had dropped enough to be able to photograph the root which is normally three to five feet deep.

Very cool. I think each of those funny looking knobbies on the root is a leaf scar - a leaf was growing from that point.
