A fun way to share our lives with each other... through photos, recipes, events, thoughts, feelings, essays, silliness or seriousness. Everyone welcome to contribute and pitch in as much or little as we want.
I took this picture this a.m. on our hike to Whyte Lake in West Vancouver. I had to play with the contrast a little to allow the subject to show up. Any ideas what you're looking at?

Pahokee thinks it's a cobweb.
Pahokee is quite gifted, really. I think you should have his IQ tested. He is right, of course...it is indeed a spider web, a very impressive one at that. It would have been interesting to watch a time-lapse sequence of its construction.
Pahokee thinks spider webs are very beautiful. Except, of course, when they get on his face.
Yes, it would be very interesting to watch time-lapse of various species of spiders creating their webs.
Pahokee wonders if spiders are hard-wired to weave a particular type of web, or if they learn by trial and error until they get the right form.
Hmmmm, Pahokee is wondering how his message got posted under Grandma's name. He is confused and suspects that his Mummy is confused too.
Apparently Pahokee is not the only that is confused.

must be something in the water up there...
Pahokee says that would explain a lot.
It's a neat photo MaryBeth and I guessed a spider web too. But it looks very different. That looks like a leaf at the bottom but what is it attached to at the top? Where was it? At first glance I thought it was water pouring over a rock.
mom, that is indeed a leaf in the background. the web was built right next to the trail in the eroded roots of a large tree. the space was kind of like a cave, with the top of the "funnel" attached to the roof of the cave. the colour is "enhanced" by picasa so the web could be seen more clearly.
