Cache goes camping!

Hi everyone!

I went camping for the first time ever on August 16th and had a blast! We went to a place called Brule Lake, which is outside of Jasper. It's all random camping and there's lots of room for dogs to run around. It was a great time! I went for a long ride in the truck, met another lab, explored in the bushes, found some yummy garbage other campers had left behind (my mom wasn't too happy about that though and I don't understand why...), slept in the tent, rode around on the back of the quad lots, ran down the beach chasing the quad, and played for hours on end chasing the stick in the water.

This is our camp site.

Aren't I handsome?

I LOVE chasing the stick!!! The water was really shallow - I could run as far out from shore as I wanted and it was never deeper than my belly.

Here I am getting ready to head back up to the campsite for lunch.

I chased the stick for almost 6 hours on Saturday! I was pooped!

A pretty sunset - I think I slept through it...

I love camping! It's so much fun! I hope I get to do lots more in the future. I wonder what my cousin Pahokee thinks about camping. I don't think he would like camping with me very much. He's kind of a grump.

Yo Cache,

Do you like to chase sticks?! A squirrel bit me on the lip the other day. Has a squirrel ever bitten your lip?

Your favorite cousin,
Pahokee

PS Today has been a good day. I don't feel grumpy at all.

That looks like a great way to end the summer Cache. Sassy has been visiting me for the past 4 days and is having a great time. She is going home today with her mom and dad. When are you coming to see me?

Pahokee,

Chasing sticks (and frisbees) is my favorite thing to do ever! I went to the river in Devon lots this summer and had to swim to get the stick. It's so much FUN! I also get to go to the park almost every night to chase the frisbee. I get so excited when it's time to go that I can't contain myself - I have to bark and jump up and down.

I've never been bitten anywhere by a squirrel, but I've never had the chance to chase one though. I'm sure it would be lots of fun. I have chased lots of sticks though. Is that the same thing?

I would really like to come visit you Grandma, but my mom says that I'm really big and goofy and would wreck stuff. I don't know what she's talking about.

Love Cache

Dear Cache,

It's no surprise that you have never been bitten by a squirrel because you live on a treeless plain. I prefer trees and mountains around me and don't like being called a 'flatlander' by my friends. And, no, sticks don't count the same as squirrels.

Maybe someday you can live where there are trees and mountains too.... don't despair. If you come visit me I will teach you about squirrels and other neat things.

Your cousin,
Pahokee

Dear Pahokee,

I think your beard is interfering with your brain waves, because I do not live on a treeless plain. There are many trees in fact. My mom and dad cut down several smaller ones for me to chew up instead of chewing on the deck, the dog house, the shed, the new grass, the sump hose, the fence, the outlet cover, the deck chairs, the new deck table, the bbq cover, and the label on the propane tank. Of course I still chew on those things though, because sticks get boring after a while.

Wow, just thinking about chewing stuff up makes me very distracted! I would like to come visit you. Perhaps I could teach you some neat things too? Like how to chew things into really really really small pieces. Or how to drink out of a hose - that's fun.

Your tree-loving cousin,
Cache
